Victorian Cottage Extension Goodnestone Kent

Brickfield Cottages are a terrace of four late Victorian farm workers cottages set in the beautiful countryside of Goodnestone, Canterbury. This project saw the transformation of one of the end cottages.

The extension has been sympathetically integrated with the existing terrace and surrounding countryside whilst providing modern family living space.

Typical of Victorian cottages such as this the property previously had a small galley kitchen with the only bathroom at the end of it. This two-storey side extension effectively doubled the size of the house. The plan is simple but it has completely changed the feel and functionality of the house. It provides open plan living throughout the ground floor with the new kitchen at its heart.

At the first-floor level the extension has provided two additional bedrooms, which allowed the smallest of the original bedrooms to be converted into a family bathroom.

The attention to detail, such as the purpose made joinery, makes this project exceptional.
