Fordingbridge has a disproportionately rich heritage for a small town — a Grade I listed medieval bridge, a fine parish church, and proximity to Breamore House and St Mary's Breamore, one of the most complete Anglo-Saxon churches in England. The surrounding area straddles the New Forest and the Avon Valley, with listed farmhouses and agricultural buildings spread across a genuinely rural landscape. Our practice has worked on scheduled ancient monuments and medieval ecclesiastical buildings of national importance — experience that builds both technical knowledge and an instinct for what heritage significance really means in practice. It also informs how we approach the domestic end of listed building work: period homes that need more space, historic farm buildings with conversion potential, and the recurring challenge of creating open, family-oriented interiors within buildings that were never designed with modern life in mind.
